Southern Reproductive is excited to introduce an AI Training School - a comprehensive 2-day program designed to teach artificial insemination techniques for cattle at our Tapanui office.

This cost-effective training is ideal for farmers and farm staff who wish to gain hands-on skills and knowledge in bovine reproduction. The program includes both theoretical and practical components to ensure a thorough understanding of the artificial insemination (AI) process.

Key areas of instruction include:

• Fundamentals of reproductive biology

• Heat detection and timing for successful insemination

• Step-by-step instruction on the AI procedure

• Proper handling and thawing of frozen semen

• Safe use and management of liquid nitrogen

• Practice using a state-of-the-art AI cow simulator

Following the group training, participants will also have access to optional one-on-one sessions for additional personalised instruction.This training program offers an accessible, practical solution for those looking to implement or improve AI practices on their farm.  We are also planning on running a separate NZQA accredited course in the future which will benefit those wishing to train in AI as a career pathway.
